Alcatraz is a much awaited television series slated for airing in 2012. It is a science fiction/drama series produced by Steven Lilien, Bryan Wynbrandt and Elizabeth Sarnoff. You can discover the Alcatraz episode schedule from the internet.

Alcatraz features Sarah Jones (Ugly Betty, Huff, Big Love) who portrays Detective Rebecca Madsen of SFPD. The Detective is assigned to a heinous homicide case where she found the fingerprints pointing to a deceased former Alcatraz inmate, Jack Sylvane portrayed by Jeffrey Pierce as their guest star.

Madsen’s family has a history associated with Alcatraz since her grandfather and surrogate uncle played by Robert Foster used to be a prison guard in the said facility. Her interest is piqued when she meets up with a government agent Emerson Hauser played by veteran actor Sam Neill who tries to block her every move to solve the mystery behind the case.

As a recourse, she considers Dr. Diego Soto who helps her in placing the pieces together, Dr. Soto is played by Jorge Garcia of Lost. They both discover that Sylvane is not dead but is actually alive, healthy and raiding ...
... San Francisco leaving dead bodies behind him. What is strange is that Sylvane does not show any sign of aging since he left Alcatraz while it was still administered by Warden Edwin James and Associate Warden E.B. Tiller.

The series plot continues to focus on the Madsen and Doc team who fight to help keep the country from the cruelty of the dangerous criminals who used to dwell in the historic prison. They now take their turn to do what Madsen’s family had been doing for the past several decades. However, they would have to work with agent Hauser and his technician.

The program might be aired through Fox in May 2011 and they're aiming to show it in January of 2012, tentatively. Insiders plan to show the series on Mondays at 9pm but this will change anytime. The show was developed by a similar production team of the popular Kyle XY show. Its target running time is 43 minutes for each episode.

Having a female lead character in a science fiction/thriller/drama series is not quite new. There were several shows in the past that have the same platform and have gained considerable support from viewers. Check out other up and coming programs on Fox network.
