Chevrolet dealership Florida/Chrysler dealership Florida – Fiat History
The Fiat 500 was born out of necessity in 1950s post-war Italy. Cars had to be cheap, spacious enough for large families, and capable of navigating twisting city streets. Although the Fiat was inexpensive, it was brilliantly designed. The 500 has one of the greatest interior-to-exterior proportions of any car. The front suspension consists of a single spring across the car, making in cheaper and lighter—John Cooper later used this technology in his miniature racing cars. The removable canvas sunroof cut back on the car’s cost and weight. The Fiat was small, stylish and intoxicating to drive—it set the ...

Chevrolet dealership Florida/Chrysler dealership Florida – The Fiat in America
Unfortunately, many Americans still think of the acronym, “Fix It Again Tony” when they think “Fiat.” Fiat earned a poor reputation in the 1970s due to build quality problems resulting from Italian labor union disputes, lack of quality control and cheap materials used at the time. Today, modern Fiats use completely new manufacturing processes and materials. Since the mid 2000’s, drivers and car experts have begun to warm up to the new generation of fun, innovative and reliable Fiat cars.
Chevrolet dealership Florida/Chrysler dealership Florida – Why the Fiat?
The Fiat has upmarket styling, good gas mileage and a size and price point that makes sense for young city drivers. This isn’t a car for large families, road trippers, or those who drive a lot on the freeway. The Fiat is designed for crowded cities with limited parking, where most driving takes place under 40mph. With gas prices over $3 a gallon in many areas, the 500’s nearly 40mpg fuel economy makes it an attractive option for small car buyers. The Fiat weighs in at a scant 2,333 lbs—it’s much bigger than the Smart car, and within half a foot of the Mini Cooper in most dimensions.
Chevrolet dealership Florida/Chrysler dealership Florida – Fiat Performance
How does the Fiat 500 perform? In Motortrend’s first test, 0-60 acceleration took place in 9.7 seconds. A quarter mile acceleration took 17.2 seconds at 78.5 mph. 60-0 braking took 131 ft. In the handling test, the Fiat achieved an impressive 0.85 g of lateral acceleration. It completed a figure eight course in 28 seconds at an average of 0.58 g. What the Fiat lacks in outright speed, it makes up for with a high fun-to-drive factor!
