The beautiful Outer Banks are a favorite summer destination. The Outer Banks draws vacationers from all over the country. In the later part of the year, you’ll have far less company at these attractions that you would in the high season. Lines will be short or non-existent. These same will hold true at popular restaurants and shops. You’ll have more of the Outer Banks to yourself in the fall.

The fall weather will make seeing these attractions, many of which are outdoors, even more fun. The temperatures will still be warm but it will have lost much of that summer sizzle. You’ll still need your sunblock but you might need a light jacket for the evenings, too. Autumn breezes off the ocean will make your outdoor activities comfortable.

Many of our outdoor activities are at their peak in the autumn. Biking and golf are natural choices for this active season. It’s not too late to jump in and learn how to windsurf, though you should probably wear a wetsuit. Fishing doesn’t get much better than fall in the Outer Banks.

Fishing in the fall is an angler’s dream. Many of the beaches on the Outer Banks will be lined with trucks in the mornings, each one sporting a rack of fishing rods and a cooler for the day’s catch. Striped bass migrate along the coast in the spring and fall and they make an exceptional meal. Lucky anglers might be able to fight an aggressive blue fish to the shore in the fall, too. If surf casting isn’t your favorite, Kitty Hawk also has a public pier.

Taking advantage of all the Outer Banks has to offer is more affordable in the autumn. Rates are typically lower and the best rental homes have better availability in this season. You can have a first rate getaway at a bargains hunter’s price.
