Although net curtains are normally used to prevent people from looking into homes and to maintaining privacy, sometimes they conceal what is going on side. A man has recently been found guilty of creating and selling a digital terror manual behind his net curtains. This activity was going on between 2003 and 2008. The website has now been removed by police.

Rather worryingly, the man’s motive for producing this terror manual was simply to get rich quick. The man had no real political beliefs or terrorist sympathies – he just wanted to make money as quickly as possible! The handbook titled ‘The Anarchist’s Cookbook’ was sold as two CDs and could be purchased from a website for only £24. The CDs contained information from the al-Qaeda training manual. Shockingly, this venture actually made the man thousands and thousands of pounds.

At his trial, it was revealed that this was the largest haul of terrorist information ever found in the UK. The man was selling information to prospective terrorists, including how to make a letter bomb. Police stated that they were concerned that his handbook could have been ...

The man was found guilty of offences under the Terrorism Act, including collecting information that could have been used to prepare or commit acts of terrorism. He was also found guilty of selling and distributing the information under terror laws.
Worryingly, the man’s defense was that terrorists would not pay for such material and he stated that it is actually available for free on the internet. He added that personal details such as email, credit card and address had to be given to purchase the handbook and that many terrorists would not want to give out that kind of personal information.
