The human back is a robust structure. But it was not initially designed to be upright. Although we changed over the millennia from crawling to walking upright, evolution of the body was not quite as fast. It is thus that the spine is prone to many disorders. And when the back is hurting it is extremely difficult to function normally.

The way humans sleep often accentuates the back problems. Many people swear that hard beds are the answer and site the Japanese who traditionally sleep on a thin mattress (Futon) on top of a grass like mat (tatami) This is extremely comfortable once one is used to it but does not necessarily obviate back pain.

There are very many bed companies all of whom will claim that their particular brand of inner spring be and mattress is the cure for back pain. Some of these claims may well be true for some sufferers but will do absolutely nothing for others. But thinking that a bed will cure the problem is like trying to treat a headache with a band aid in many instances. It just isn't addressing the real problem.

The spine is made up of a number (usually 24) of movable bones plus another ...
... 9 or so that are fused together in the coccyx and sacrum. Within the spinal columns run all the nerves and control that are an integral part of the central nervous system. The lower, fused vertebrae are not normally the ones to give discomfort but all those above are potential trouble spots for the entire body.

The lower back is known as the lumbar region and it naturally curves inward. Then the curve reverses itself in the thoracic region. At the top are the cervical vertebrae which straighten up or reverse the curve somewhat. Between all the vertebrae is soft tissue which allows the various bits to have movement without rubbing on each other.

Because of the complexity of the interfaces and movements of these moveable vertebrae and the criticality of the nerves any number of problems may arise, not only giving rise to lower back pain but also a host of other ailments. The job of a chiropractor is to ensure that all is well with the various bones in the back.

Most people consult with Chiropractors because they are suffering from discomfort and pain in their back or neck. A chiropractor will "adjust" the arrangement and movement of the various bones thus providing relief. But there is a lot more that a chiropractor is capable of.

A large number of other ailments may be solved by Chiropractic Treatments. Low back pain and neck pin aside chiropractors treat sports injuries especially for the joints in the limbs and the shoulder. Persistent headaches often stem from the central nervous system being pinched by a misplaced vertebrae in the neck or soft tissue damage all of which a chiropractor may address.

There are also items which he may address without manipulation, like nutrition and food allergy problems, which cause complications in the spine because obesity, for example, puts undue weight on the spine this often causing spinal disorders.

Chiropractic Treatments provide not only relief from low back pain or neck pain but a host of other ailments in addition. Houston Chiropractors service patients in Houston, Texas.
