Not only for decoration but paper lanterns can be a great option if you want to leverage the creative side of yours by making them on your own. Homemade paper lanterns can give you the opportunity to create a perfect design to compliment your interiors and customize them with your favorite colors. Making a paper lantern is not very difficult and moreover you can easily find about the procedure and the items required by browsing the Internet. If you are interested in making your own paper lanterns, here are some important things you should know before you begin.

Let us first discuss about the materials required in making the paper lanterns. The base material needed to make this craft is of course the paper. You can select either white or colored paper based ...
... on your personal preference. In addition to paper, other items you will need are scissors, tape, string, glue, stapler, ruler, and pencil. Do not forget to have paints or pastel colors in case you want to add decoration to the plain paper.

If you are ready with all the materials, you can first begin by making a basic design of paper lantern. For this first cut a piece of paper in square form. Fold this paper into half in the form of a rectangle. Place it flat in a table and draw fainted lines from pencil beginning around ¼ inch from the folded edge of the paper towards the other edge. Draw several similar lines parallel to each other maintaining a uniform gap between them.

Now cut the paper starting from the fold on the pencil line. Now unfold the paper and wrap it in a circular motion. Then paste the two ends together or staple them so that the paper lantern can stand by itself. The cuts will be in the vertical position. Your paper lantern is ready. Once you have learned the basic technique of making paper lanterns you can try with various patterns and designs.

Whether you prepare your own paper lantern or buy it from an online or retail store it will definitely beautify your interior.
