Best Viewpoints In Phuket That Can Make Your Phuket Holiday Memorable
Phuket is renowned for many things, including its beautiful beaches, the incredibly friendly people and the vibrant and exciting nightlife, as well as the superb Phuket hotels. One thing that every visitor to Phuket agrees upon is that Phuket is a stunningly beautiful island. Wherever you go, the lush tropical jungle and the sparkling Andaman Sea are ever-present, giving you a true sense of being in paradise. Naturally, there are some high vantage points that you can visit to experience some incredible views. But which ones are the best? Phuketbooknow.com provides you with a breakdown of some of the finest vistas on the island.
#1: Big Buddha Viewpoint
Big Buddha viewpointIt is very difficult to pick a winner with so many spectacular views available in Phuket, but for its very high 360 degree views of the entire southern half of Phuket, the panorama from Big Buddha takes the phuketbooknow.com number one spot. On my first visit, I kept stopping as I went up the hill to take pictures, convinced that the view could not get any better. But the very best views are to be found next to the enormous 45 meter high Big Buddha ...
... image. Big Buddha can be accessed by walking through the temple next to it and ascending a beautiful white stairway. Because it is a religious site, you should ideally aim to wear modest clothes below the knee - however, the temple will happily lend you a sarong to wear if you forget. The awe-inspiring views allow you to see the south, west and east coasts of Phuket Island, and on a clear day you can see the splendid countryside stretching out for many miles.
#2: Kata viewpoint
Kata viewpointAs Kata viewpoint is only a 10 minute drive away from Promthep Cape, it's easy to visit both locations in a single journey. The view over the west coast of Phuket is almost unrivalled, taking in Kata Noi Beach, Kata Beach and Karon Beach. The scenery visible from here is truly breathtaking, with the white beaches and turquoise seas blending into the verdant tropical wilderness beyond. Despite the amazing views, it is not usually too crowded here, although there are usually a few stalls selling food and drinks for the hungry traveler.
#3: Promthep Cape
The famous view from Promthep CapePromthep Cape is one of Phuket's most famous viewpoints, and every day hundreds of Thai locals and visitors throng to see the sun go down - no holiday to Phuket is complete without witnessing the incredible sunset visible from here. If you want to see the glorious spectacle of yellow light gradually merging into oranges, crimsons and purples, you should pick a relatively cloud-free day. Parking here is rather difficult on weekends - leave your car wherever you can and take a short walk up the hill to join the Thai locals in celebrating one of the most beautiful events you can witness in Phuket.
#4: Khao-Khad View Tower
One of many views from Khao-Khad TowerKhao-Khad View Tower is based in Cape Panwa, and offers some of Phuket's best views of the beaches and islands in the south-east. It can be found just off the road running alongside Ao Yon Beach, which is renowned as being one of Cape Panwa's finest stretches of sand. Khao-Khad has an amazing 360 view - Chalong Bay, Makham Bay and Koh Siray are only three of the beautiful areas that can be seen from this unique pinnacle.
#5 : Rang Hill Viewpoint
Rang Hill viewpointRang Hill Viewpoint is known locally as Khao Rang, and it can be found on the north west edge of Phuket Town. It boasts a superb view overlooking Phuket Town, as well as the south coast of Phuket and the islands beyond. The nearby Phuket View restaurant has a great view of its own, and serves excellent fresh seafood and delicious authentic Thai dishes.
