Strobe lights are of the HID (High Intensity Discharge) type but which suffer the downfalls of high current consumption, heat emission, and fragility. With the emergence of light emitting diodes i.e. LEDs and their subsequent ability to achieve the strobe effect, a new long-lasting, cheap, and energy-saving solution for strobe light effects was discovered.

When buying LED strobe lights it is important to have the required strobe mechanism in mind. The industry has plenty of technologies to this effect especially when dealing with strobe patterns.
