Salwaar Kameez – The Comfort Wear
The kameez with it’s origins in India has evolved to being one of the most versatile and comfortable dresses of all time. It’s rich cultural history adds to the mystical aura surrounding it. These dresses come in many different styles and a huge array of colours with different styles of designs, embroidery, etc...
A salwaar kameez is a three piece wear which consists of a chunni which is wrapped around like a scarf, then comes the kameez which is the upper wear and followed by the salwar which is worn on the legs. These three components make up a dress. It is growing in popularity as nowadays many bridal outfits are salwars itself. The reason behind it is its sheer elegance and superb simplicity and wearing comfort.
These salwaars come in different styles. Some of them are the Churidar Salwaar, Straight Salwaar, and Pathani Salwaar etc... Some Salwaars are worn above the knee level like the Churidaar Salwaar. The Patiala Salwaar is very elegant indeed, the most beautiful Salwaar, it has folds which start from the hip till the end of the salwaar, which is a very good pleated design, the price of such salwaars ...
... range from medium to high, the value increasing with the level of embroidery and skill. It is evident that most brides choose to wear expensive kameez materials on their big day, they get the kameez designed by top designers in the country who use materials such as silk, satin, velvet and crepe to imbibe in it a royal look. A bridal kameez has a variety of colour options too, red is seen as a traditional colour, signifying respect, and there are other popular colours like pink, yellow, gold, purple etc.
Nowadays, not only the working class women are wearing salwaar kameez, but also it’s being worn by younger girls who go out for roaming as well as for college since it is a very versatile fashion choice. It is adequate enough to be worn for office or for an interview, yet trendy enough to be worn at college. The best option for the fabric while buying such dress material is of course cotton because of the comfort factor and it is most suitable for being worn in a tropical climate like that of India. You can also opt for a mix of fabrics which have 50% cotton content and 50% synthetic content, hence getting best of comfort from cotton and the silky non crease look from synthetic fibres.
