Algeria

The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria is considered to be the second largest country in Africa, bordering Tunisia, Libya, Niger, Mauritani, Mali, Morocco, and the Western Sahara. Algeria is an affiliate of the Union of Africa, United Nations, OPEC, and the Arabian Leagues.

The violent colonization of Algeria by France was met with a guerilla campaign of independence that succeeded in 1962. Suffering from internal conflicts regarding the one-party rule, Algeria regained its development as an emerging economy in 2002. Its economy is fueled by its natural resources, such as the fossil fuels, as well as the agricultural sector. In 2006, Algeria paid off its debt to the Paris Club ahead of schedule, which raised its financial standing.

With over 32 million people in the population, 99% of the population is Arab/Berber with Muslim religious beliefs. The predominant language in Algeria is Algerian Arabic, with considerations to the Berber and French languages.

Uganda

The Republic of Uganda in eastern Africa borders Kenya, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda ...
... and Tanzania. Uganda is a landlocked country that is connected to the larger parts of Lake Victoria, with the capital placed in South Kampala. Under protectorate of Great Britain from 1894, Uganda achieved its independence in 1962 and became a democratic republic with its capital in Kampala.

With a large base of natural resources, Uganda has reserves of crude oil, natural gas, and mineral deposits. With 80% of the working population employed in agriculture, coffee is Uganda's main export. The country has been undergoing economic and financial revitalization efforts, with its 2004 GDP higher than its 1980s levels.

Uganda has a diverse ethnic population, with over 40 different languages spoken throughout the country. Although English is the official language, Luganda is the most predominantly spoken local language. The vast majority of the population is Christian, with only 1% of the population classified as traditionally religious.
