Anna goes hungry to clean the nation, Modi goes hungry for peace and Harmony but me and my best half was hungrier to have the best honeymoon! After hours of consultation with friends, cousins, colleagues and browsing the net for the best places we finally decided – Kerala – Gods own Country. What started as a search for a location two months before our marriage finally culminated as a Kerala Honeymoon Package on 4th January 2010.

I should also express my utmost gratitude to our tour operator for his support and guidance all through the tour. They have been extremely professional in their approach, right from sharing the itinerary to sending us off at their office. Our Kerala honeymoon started as we touched down in Cochin airport, as soon as we came out of the arrival gate we were promptly received by the driver and we headed towards Munar as our first destination. Roads in Kerala are not the best we can have but the drive in the spacious Innova was a relief, as we started climbing the mountain we could see lush green tea plantations ...
... and small intermittent water streams. We stopped at one of the waterfalls on the way to wash our hand and feel the freshness of water. A bath in the falls would have been a good idea, but both of us were not prepared for it. We later checked into our pre-booked resort at Munnar. The ambience at the resort was overwhelming. One side of the resort was a steep valley and we housed in a honeymoon cottage, which is a special cottage designed by them for honeymooners. The next two days of our Kerala Honeymoon Trip was lazy sight seeing in the morning and then courting each other on the silent valleys of the resort!

From Munnar we started off to Kumarakom, the land of backwaters and lakes. What waited for us was even more amazing, I was awestruck to see resort and settings in place. We were offered a lake side room and we again spend our passionate time chatting with each other standing by the lakeside balcony. We were offered a deep lake candle light dinner, I have no words to explain the joy and excitement of this. The mouth watering spread of food was galloped down by both of us till we finally said ‘we cannot take it anymore’. The resort also offers an ‘infinite swimming pool’ – one side of pool is at the level of backwaters giving us an illusion of a pool extending into the backwaters.

From the resort next day morning we checked into a Houseboat, Kerala Honeymoon Package was growing better every day! On the houseboat we were received with a welcome drink, the crew on board was extremely friendly and helpful through out our cruise. Authentic Kerala food was served to us for lunch, dinner and the next day’s breakfast. The taste of Kerala fish and other side dishes are mouth watering. The boat cruise was from morning 11 AM to evening around 5.30 PM, when the boats halt to enable the local fishing folks to lay nets for fishing.

As we checked out of the houseboat we were almost calling off our appetizing Kerala Honeymoon! We headed back to the airport which is almost one and half hours from Alleppey, as we go back both of us reflected on our memorable moments in this Gods own country and we would be coming back again to explore more of this heaven. Insha Allah, its Gods will!
