What are cable ties?

Cable ties are a type of fastener which is usually used to tie an amount of cables together. They are usually made out of nylon and they have a gear rack where one end of the tie is put into. This means that once the cable ties are pulled tight, they cannot be pulled back again and the loop cannot only be pulled tighter and not opened again. This is because the cable tie has a saw tooth design and a ratchet. The ratchet locks against the teeth which prevents the tie from being pulled back again.
