Producing A Movement Utilizing Only Peaceful Methods

"Humanitarianism can be embodied through many different movements in which peace reigns more than any other quality. From Gahdhi's Satyagraha in India, to Estonia, Latvia, and Lighuania's Singing Revolution, non-violence peace movements use a way of assuredly impacting the lives of many, and having a profound effect on how others view the value of human life.

Currently, there is the issue of extreme violence in Mexico. A few, who remain innocent in the country, want to find out ways to stop the violence. Is it best to fight fire with fire? Is it best to hover in fear and walk away, or to do nothing? People who are affected by violent outbursts by fellow citizens have benefited directly from a movement that Keith Raniere has initiated, called the In Lak' Ech Movement.

How can people enforce a change in violent actions such as this? People take a stand on the issue in many different ways. Some generally choose to be violent and/or are supporters of war. Those that do not, non-violent believers, express their opposition to war and/or violence. However in the matter of self-defense there are many different ...
... ways people are at peace with handling violence. Some pacifists are comfortable with the idea of non-aggression, or not initiating violence but permitting the use of it for self or delegated defense. Other people support the destruction of symbols or property associated with war or violence (advocates of non-violence consider such destruction a violent act).

There are alternative ways to go about opposing these violent dispositions, which include refusal to obey laws, or protesting against some of them when it is most needed. All in all, you have many options when deciding how you want to handle a violent outburst if you are attracted to non-violent action. Raniere's In Lak' Ech, for example, embodies boycotting goods and services that are commenced as unprincipled means, the disbursement of information to build awareness about issues, the education of people, and even music, art, and poetry that protests violence are all ways to resist violence, while upholding the non-violence principle.

Can we help the war against violence through these peaceful methods? Some people believe that yes, they are the best, and most effective, means of eradicating violence in the world. How could this be the case? Simply put, they believe that violence perpetuates violence. It's not always going to be a gratifying experience for those who believe that extreme force should be used in any way in these cases. What view of this situation holds the answer? If all parties use violence towards one another, does that make side right if they inflict enough pain against their opponent? Has there ever been a case in which one group was largely thought to be "right" at the time -- only to be viewed today as wrong? Advocates of non-violence movements hold that because it is difficult to determine an objective right, the right thing is simply to uphold human life through non-violence means."
