The Hindu festival Diwali is a time to celebrate and rejoice, a time of sharing, being with family and friends and a time to fill not only the empty stomachs but, especially the empty hearts. If there is one occasion that is full of joy and lights, it is Diwali. Celebration is accompanied by unlimited greetings for the welfare, exchange of sweets and the explosion of fireworks.

Hindus celebrate Diwali as a day of celebration. Candles are burnt in every home. People clean their homes and wear new clothes. Joyous greetings are shared and people wish each other. Diwali is the biggest festival that celebrates the victory of good over the evil. Hindus all over the world celebrate Diwali and it is also the beginning of New Year as per the Hindu calendar.

It is a time to exchange greetings, best wishes and gifts with family and friends, somewhat like the Christian festival of Christmas.
