There are a lot of people who talk about life insurance and why it matters, but there are still many misunderstandings regarding life insurance policies. Most people believe life insurance is taken out to pay for funeral expenses of the insured. And while this may be one reason that people get life insurance, it is not something that insurance coverage is for! Life insurance to replace income that is lost with the death of the insured person, as well as be used to pay for the needs of the deceased insured, you will not earn the money to do it. If you have children or relatives who depend on your income, then you should have life insurance.

For the young, individuals without a family, there's really no need for life insurance. If you are older people with retirement savings or pensions, it may not be necessary to have life insurance on top of the money that becomes available to your spouse on your savings and pensions.

Life insurance agents are supposed to explain the options and help you understand your own needs and how life insurance can help a step back to allow you to make your own decisions regarding the type and amount of insurance you want to carry around.
