Coping With The Loss Of A Loved One
"Many people I know have had people they cared about, die. Admittedly, as I've seen them go through different cycles of grief, I've wondered about the best way to handle such an event.
You will find many methods at getting through the process. In any case, you will feel better if you confide your feelings to someone else. Fighting the pain is usually something that can be alleviated by depending on someone else to help you carry the weight. When people desire to help but don't know how, perhaps letting them in on what you might need can go a long way for both of you. In the event that you have certain religious beliefs, you can gain from praying to this God.
If you don't talk to acquaintances, family, or a spiritual source, a support group or therapist is advised. If you need to talk to people who understand you because they are sorting through the same ordeal, a support group offers these services. Knowing that others are going through the same exact emotions that you are, usually makes people who have recently had a loss get through it faster. Therapists are experts in helping others deal with emotions ...
... and overcome obstacles. We don't see things about ourselves that could be fixed by talking to a professional.
Personal coaches was a choice that one of my friends tested. Before my friend decided to find someone to help her, she had lost someone in her life that she cared about and couldn't seem to enjoy her own life any longer, Then, she started to work with a coach from Executive Success Programs, created by Keith Raniere and Nancy Salzman. After some coaching, she realized that by learning to love her work and family, life was actually very wonderful. There is no doubt she seems much happier since the loss, and she has been taught to remember the person who passed, so that she can deal with the pain so it can become easier over time. There are many people who go through the same type of success.
How can you get over the death of someone dear to you? You should always try to express your feelings to someone. But simply talking to someone about grief won't help to fill any void that might be there because of a lack of fulfillment. If a coach, or someone trained to help in helping one discover a sense of self, really is an option, it seems one could find a more permanent way of dealing not just with losing a loved one, but with other challenging times in life."
