Today a computer is almost considered as a personal entertainment device and with more and more buffs being added on a daily basis to modern day computers it is more of like becoming even more personal. You use your system for purposes varying from simple typing jobs to browsing the internet, downloading your favourite tones or high definition movies, playing your music libraries, watching multimedia content such as video clips, playing games and so many other tasks. The list never seems to end and as far as Desktop PC’s go it is now a perfect and irresistible choice for modern day families.

As said earlier computers are used for a variety of purposes and of these one of the most prominent uses today especially by youngsters and college students is obviously for watching movies and playing games. Today you can download the latest movies in even high definition 720p or 1080p resolution directly from the internet and watch them without any problem of piracy. A minimum of 15 inches of display screen size is required to comfortably watch movies but it is the minimum requirement. The best option would be to have a 20 plus inch screen size. It would be very nice if the screen supported technologies such as 3D, full HD playback and so on. The large number of 3D movies released today will make anybody interested in trying out a 3D screen model when they set out to buy a monitor. However the pricing would be in an altogether different territory for 3D models. And you won’t get more than 1 3D goggles with most brands of monitors and boy do these glasses cost a fortune. So even if you don’t buy a 3D monitor at least go for a large LED screen because an LED screen will cause less of an irritation to your eyes as compared to other screen materials like LCD.

There are several manufacturers of PC monitors out there today and of the lot the most prominent ones are Samsung, Acer, Lenovo, Dell and so on to name a few. Screen sizes that are available range from small as 14 inch to as a big as 24 inches. But choose one that suits you the best rather than going by the ads of respective brands. Monitors have become far more affordable than they were 5 or 6 years ago mainly thanks to the miniaturisation of components and today you can comfortably walk home with a pretty good sizes monitor that offers top notch features for much less cash.

In short a larger monitor is always a better choice as long as you don’t mind the extra power consumption of these screens.
