Cycles are is no longer merely a means of transport. They are increasingly becoming part of our lifestyles, both functional and recreational. Many people choose to jump on to the adventure tourism bandwagon and choose to go on biking holidays. This may mean either cycling the whole way or go on biking trails after reaching chosen destinations. Many people choose to bike all the way to work or cycle part of the way before boarding mass transit modes of travel like buses or trains. Cycling for fitness has become an emerging trend because of the increasing awareness about need to be active for good health. An outdoor cycling route is definitely far more invigorating than time spent on a stationary bike or a treadmill. Cycling has always been a favourite mode of transport, specifically for school students. Even a lot of adults are choosing to cycle over short distances rather than take their cars, in the best interests of their health, finances and the planet, not necessarily in that order. But the increasing use of bikes gives rise to another need- the need for organized, effective, designated, stylish and secure parking spaces ...
... for bikes at the end of the journey - the ubiquitous outdoor bike racks.

outdoor bike racks are essential for the smooth flow of traffic in public spaces. It means that bikes are not parked at random and hence present no threat to pedestrians, other bikers and of course automobile traffic. It also means that bike parking facilities exist at earmarked locations inside parks and gardens and these help bikers to plan entry and exit routes for optimal results. Some corporations even allow the facility of cycling to various locations within their campuses, with facilities to board and alight at different points, necessitating a rack at every location. Families, where more than one member uses a bike also have the need for such racks, albeit in smaller sizes. Bike racks also offer peace of mind to cyclists in terms of safety and security. This is imperative for someone who possesses a state of the art bike, costing substantial amounts of money. Parking at a rack also means lower susceptibility to damage resulting from vandalism.

outdoor bike racks are best fashioned out of metal. This is mainly because of the sturdiness inherent to such racks. This is important in order to ensure stability of the bikes stationed therein and prevent domino-like crashes. The metal racks are made of good quality steel like A36 and further finished to better face up to the vagaries of the weather. Sandblasting and powder coating ensure a wide range of colours to choose from. What's more, these technologies ensure better resistance to rust and ensure longevity.

Due caution should be exercised in the installation of the outdoor bike racks and chains may be provided for enhanced security. There is no further incentive for the use of cycles as transport than the reassurance that they can be parked safely and available for use, when required. So this may drive more members of the community to choose the cycling option, benefitting our collective health and that of the planet!
