"There is no doubt that Hollywood leaves no room for us to consider ideas of how technology is used against us in the future, whether it be robots that end up taking over our minds or just complete destruction of the world in which we live, they have been very negative towards science. While these scenarios are but hypothesis at this point, we can all see that technology is advancing at an incredible pace. What makes these Sci-Fi movies believable to some degree is that technology's advancement is often times being coupled with either ignoble motives, or losing sight of the most fundamental human values.

When there are certain instances where technology is dangerous is when there is no affiliation to humans and the science is specifically, just that, science OR people stop interacting with each other about the profession.

But what we don't think about is if technology didn't exist. What if the sole reason people were using science was just to promote the idea of it? What happens when the essence of who we are cannot be found in the dealing and evolution of more advanced technology? I think it becomes easier ...
... for people to get myopic and extensively ambitious, and our human values to get more and more overlooked with time. It perpetuates the very nightmare our films venture to depict, but we have also experienced this in our history. Some of the medical experimentations Nazi doctors performed on concentration camp prisoners – while they were still alive! – is a sobering example of this.

Technology is just a tool. Fusion can be used to generate safe energy for millions, or it can be used to nuke millions. As a tool, it can have an incredibly positive consequence on many, or in the wrong hands can be equally destructive. We can succeed if you put two and two together and don't eliminate people out of the picture. The level to which we can do this will determine the degree to which we can reach new and wonderful heights as a civilization, or reach the depths of worldwide despair.

There are people that are keeping this in their thoughts, and working to build awareness on the subject of keeping the heart in science. An example of this kind of work can be found through the Ethical Science Foundation, which director Clare Bronfman says is dedicated to the ethical goals of research in science, technology, and education.

To obtain this kind of change, all people who experiment with science would need to respectfully consider humans in their inventions. If we don't take this into consideration, then we could be seeing some dire consequences. Technology holds a substantial amount of power and if someone without good intentions uses it, we could be in danger. By combining moral standards and technology at the same time, we could be looking at a very bright future."
