Skype recently launched its App Directory, a centralized repository dedicated to third-party applications. To be clear, this directory is not designed to the be the next iTunes competitor. Instead, it is integrated with the company’s telephony service and appears to more of a glimpse of what may be soon to come. There are currently about 20 apps available, including premium business titles and free programs like iDroo, PamFax for Windows, and Qik Video for Android as well. While its future is uncertain, the new Skype App Directory appears to have some marketing value, so let’s take a look at some ways a marketer could take advantage.

Layout the Ideal App

Right now is the perfect time to start planning for the new Skype App Directory. The central focus of that plan? Well, in the very beginning, it should be figuring out what kind of application you will create. What type of program is likely to get you the most exposure or sales?
