If You Love Doctor Who

Hollywood has long known about the appeal of tours of places seen in movies and behind the scenes. Back in the 1950s Lucy and Ethel wreaked havoc on a bus tour of the homes of famous movie stars. Movie tours are not just for Hollywood any more and Doctor Who fans are as eager as any to see where their favorite movies and TV episodes were shot.
The longest running science fiction TV series in the world has armies of fans. Dr. Who buffs who grew up on the original series that ran for 26 years from the 1960s through the 80s had their favorite Doctors, companions and villains. They loved the way the stories fired their imaginations and made them dream of becoming sci fi heroes of sci fi writers.
Young fans today may look back at old episodes and be appalled by the low budget productions and "cheesy" special effects. Perhaps they are a little spoiled by the slick production values of the revived series. They might be surprised to learn many of the people involved in writing and producing the new series where passionate followers of the old.

... was revived by BBC Wales. Although the series is shot in many places most of the locations familiar to viewers of the current series are in Wales. Any Dr. Who fan who wants to see where it all happens would do well to visit Cardiff, a short two hours from London.
There are internet sites that tell where various episodes were shot. They even give you directions for getting there by train, bus, car or on foot. But there are so many locations, especially if you want to see all of them from the first 26 years, that it's a challenge to put together a workable itinerary.
Many fans who really want to do the Doctor Who locations justice find that a professional tour gives them the best value for their time and money. On a tour you don't waste time looking for places and asking directions and winding up in the wrong place anyway. Professional tours are planned to take passengers to the most places they most want to see within the time allotted.
