You found the right tattoo artist and the inking has already been done. What do you do for next few weeks and rest of your life to take care of your tattoo designs. With proper care the design will look always new. Many people might think that taking of tattoos is a difficult job but it isn't if you realize the do's and don’ts.

When you come back home after inking your body part, don't take shower right away. The very next time you take a shower use your finger tips to apply the soap and water gently over the design. Never make the mistake of scrubbing or applying any exfoliating soap to the design. After taking the shower, pat dry the tattoo designs and apply the products, which protect the body art. However, always make sure to keep your hands clean before you touch or clean the tattoo for the first time.

A lot of products can be used for tattoo aftercare, but not all of them have a good impact. Petroleum-based products were a good tattoo aftercare option but later it was found out that they remove color from the design and does nothing to heal the infection. Neosporin was also a much preferred ...
... choice for a lot of people. It's antibiotic properties help in preserving the color. But some individuals came up with red, small bumps on the designs. Although the bumps healed without causing any kind of problem but they removed some color. Many tattoo artists suggests applying bacitracin when it comes to tattoo aftercare. It is a good choice for combating infection. But a few people have experienced allergic reactions when applying this product.

The ointment that works well for all is A&D. Although it cannot combat infection, it has vitamins which promote healing. This ointment can be used for any kind of abrasion. By using this, your tattoo designs will remain shiny and clean. It must be applied for first few days.

Whatever ointment you use, make sure to apply it often. Never allow your new tattoo design to dry by not applying any ointment. Keep the body art moist. A time will come when a layer of dried skin will develop over the top of the design. Don't ever peel or scrub it. Allow it to fall off naturally. After 5-6 days, using unscented lotion is a good option. You may not have to use any kind of lotion or ointment once the tattoo gets healed up, which happens generally between 9-14 days. You may end up in having scabs after two weeks. Simply don't pay attention to it. If you want you can use A&D ointment on the tattoo designs because the designs might be itching and irritating you most of the time.

There is high chance of the tat color getting faded during the first few weeks. During this time, make sure the tattoo doesn't get exposed to direct sunlight. However, for longevity apply sunscreen on the tattoo ideas that is on your body. You can apply a lotion, which has SPF. Don't even soak in bathtub or hot tubs or get down to a swimming pool for taking bath.
