The Hispanic community has made an enormous contribution to the US economy and there are several organizations that represent and promote Hispanic businesses with the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) being at the forefront of such organizations.
The USHCC was set up in 1979 when several likeminded Hispanic leaders realized the need for a pan American organization that represented the community’s business interests before the US public and commercial partners. The association represents the 3 million Hispanic owned businesses and works both with the public and private sector to protect and foster their interests. The association has worked with international leaders, Congress members and the President’s office to promote the economic and social interests. The association organizes programs every year including the Annual National Convention & Business Expo as well as the Annual Legislative Conference.
Annual National Convention: This is an annual event and includes a Business Expo that features participants both from USA and abroad. This event spread over four days features hundreds of exhibitors from the United States and abroad. It acts as a mixing ground for both vendors and buyers and offer a window to the corporate sector looking for expanding its reach.
Annual Legislative Summit: This is held while the US Congress is in session. The summits plays host to chamber members, Hispanic business leaders and corporate executives. It serves as a discussion forum for legislations and their impact on the small business community. It also offers a chance for the member to meet the Congress representatives and express their view in front of the elected members.
The association also publishes a document every two years that is meant to act as a Legislative priority guideline for the Congress and the presidential administration.
