Acne commonly starts during puberty and tends to be worse in people with oily skin. Acne is most commonly found on the face but can also occur on such places as the neck, chest and back. Grapefruit belongs to the citrus family. And like other citrus fruits, it is also a rich source of vitamin C. Grapefruit seed extract, also known as citrus seed extract, is obtained from the grape fruit pulp, seeds and the white lining which is present in the peel or the covering. This extract has antiviral, antibacterial, anti fungal, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. It thus used for many types of external skin conditions from known or unknown causes (fungal, parasites, bacteria, ...
... viral, etc). It is effective against fungal infections of the feet, nails and skin.
Grapefruit seed extract is a very good facial cleanser for general cleaning of oily skin and is very helpful in fighting acne infections. It is a natural preservative with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, which is beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin. Grapefruit seed extract's astringency dries up glandular secretions (sebum) thus reducing breeding opportunities for bacteria and keeps pores from clogging with its cleaning action. Grapefruit seed extract leaves your face feeling very clean and refreshed.
Wet your face thoroughly with warm water using your hands or a dampened soft cloth. With hands still wet, apply 2-3 drops of maximum grapefruit seed extract to fingertips and gently massage facial area with circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with cool water and pat dry. A tingling sensation may follow. This is an indication of the deep cleansing properties of grapefruit seed extract. It also helps open pores keeping them clean and unclogged thus reducing blackhead and pimple formation. Physicians have observed that the herpes simplex virus becomes inactive just ten minutes after the application of grapefruit seed extract.
Apart from acne, grapefruit seed extract can also help treat other skin conditions, including dandruff, eczema and chicken pox.
