The tomb of Safdarjung was built during 1753-1754. It is the last mausoleum erected by the Mughals. Nawab Shuja-ud-daulah had built the Safdarjung's tomb for his vicar Mirza Muqim Abul Mansur Khan prevalently known has Safdarjung. Safdarjung had been the governor of Kashmir before he became the Wazir ul-Mamalik-i-Hindustan, that is, India's chief minister.

The entire structure of the Safdarjung's tomb is carved in typical Mughal style of architecture. It remarks the last phase of the Mughal ascendancy. It is located at the Lodhi Road, in New Delhi. A Golden Triangle Tours is a very good options for visitors by which they can see many more Forts, Palaces, Mosque and Tombs during their all India Tours.

The Safdarjung’s tomb is built in red sandstone and marble. There are extensive gardens spread all over the premises. The massive arched Gateway looks very exquisite and elegant. There are many tanks and fountains in the wide-spread gardens. The main building of the Safdarjung's tomb is located right in ...
... the center of the garden. There are two cenotaphs inside the tomb, out of the two; one belongs to Safdarjung and the other, presumably to his wife.

The tomb of Safdarjung symbolizes a son's great love and respect for his father. It was erected more or less on the lines of the Humayun's tomb. The tomb of Safdarjung is one of the best tourist destinations in Delhi. There are beautiful and detailed designs and paintings on every wall of the tomb.

The safdarjung's tomb has four canals, which reach out for four different buildings in the premises. The tomb's dome is very attractive and has four towers flanked around it. The tower tops have small kiosks within them, this is typical Mughal style. There are various chambers inside the Safdarjung's tomb.

The premises of the tomb also include a Mosque and some other pavilions, like the Moti Mahal aka Pearl Palace, the Jangli Mahal aka Palace in the woods and the Badshah Pasand aka Emperor's Favorite. There is also a Muslim school called as 'Madrassa' inside the premises. Gardens of the Safdarjung's tomb are made in the Persian architecture style. The Persian architecture was the source and inspiration for the Mughal architecture and style.

Inside the tomb, there are eight rooms surrounding the central chamber, which is square in shape. The apartments in the corner are shaped octagonal, while the rest are shaped rectangular. The tomb of Safdarjung stretches across an area of 300 square feet, in center of the extensive garden, which is inspired from the concept of Islamic paradise gardens.
