Selling food on your premises is not about simply putting a menu together and hiring a chef or buying in some baked goods. Not only will you need the right kitchen equipment in your place of work if you want to offer high quality, safe and hygienic food, but you will also have to consider all the necessary training and certificates that will go with it.

The rules will vary depending on the type of food you are selling, where you are selling it and who you are selling it to, but there is a good chance you will need to ensure that such sales are covered by public liability insurance and that you have all the relevant food hygiene certificates in place as well.

There are many benefits to offering food to customers and staff alike. Not only will it have the potential to increase your revenue, but it will also mean that people may stay within your premises for longer, spending more money in other areas. It may also simply attract people to your workplace who may otherwise have not visited and will often even keep staff in your building ensuring that they are more likely to start and finish lunch breaks in a timely manner ...
... and that you won’t be losing efficiency as a result of people overrunning on their lunch breaks.

The right commercial catering equipment is likely to be your largest cost. Cutting corners here will mean that the catering equipment you have is likely to be less effective, offering either substandard food or simply wasting the time of your staff and in turn wasting money. The cost of paying slightly more for better commercial catering equipment will see a return very quickly.

Courses and the amount spent on keeping your kitchen hygienic will cost less but will be equally as important. Ultimately, the costs may seem like they will add up very quickly, but so can the potential return.
