Acoustics is the study of sound, noise, and vibration. Understanding the acoustical nature of a room (theater, gymnasium, sanctuary, etc), allows us to turn undesirable acoustic factors into the type of pleasant acoustics that we want to achieve. Conditions affecting acoustics include room dimensions, walls, ceiling, floor, etc. Every room has its own acoustical footprint.
As much a part of sound system design as choosing the proper components for the particular venue, is the proper acoustical tuning of those components, once in place. This involves generating a specific “noise” from the loudspeakers into the room, which is “listened to” by a measurement microphone at random locations within the room. The test microphone is connected to a digital real-time analyzer which develops a acoustical picture of the room. The actual acoustics measured is then transformed into the “desired” acoustical picture; the corrected acoustics are achieved by devices called parametric equalizers.

Recently we have had call to do more of this type of work. Earlier this year, a school in Ascension Parish needed noise levels measured on equipment located outside the school that was getting noise complaints from neighbors.
The oldest ladies social club in New Orleans was also getting similar noise complaints from Uptown neighbors. They needed an independent test run.
An oilfield equipment manufacture in Broussard contracted us for a full day to run measurements on a piece of their equipment they were selling to Saudi Arabia.
GOAL: To expand markets for these venues with this type of technology beyond the boundaries of the State of Louisiana.
