"I started looking for a new computer, when my computer would take about 15 minutes for it to start up. I used to utilize my computer a lot, because I am a member of the community art board. Although lately, I haven't used it much. I teach at a local university and I was telling the local computer expert about my troubles. He wrote TigerDirect.com on a piece of paper and handed it to me.

Since his computer was close by, he typed the address in and showed me their website. Looking at the site made my mind go totally blank though. I told him that I had no notion of where to begin and he just laughed at me. He giggled and said this was much easier than teaching a classroom of students. We both had a good grin a chuckle about that thought.

I've known him for quite some time, so I knew that his advice was good. He quickly showed me a computer that would meet my needs at a cost that I could afford. He said it was even one of the more advanced models that are on the market right now. Man, was he correct about that one. When we meet up for our next meeting for the community art board I didn't have to sit ...
... around while my computer started. In addition, I uploaded a lot of different videos to show the other members about local performances.

My laptop is now a huge part of my presentation to my board members and isn't just taking up space. Now when I go to do something on my laptop I get excited about being able to easily get at the information that I'm trying to reach. I have gained so much knowledge now that my computer is so quick and easy to find my way around.

Earlier this week I hosted my very first video conference with members of the statewide panel for the Arts. There is no way that ever would have occurred on my other computer. I also have learned that I can use technology to make my life easier and more productive. I'm now studying how to use my laptop to help in my lectures to the board members and also my students. With all of my new knowledge, this will not be too demanding. I just have to get my hands on the right gadgets."
