When most people start to think about losing weight, they are overcome by a sense of dread. Exercise and eating healthier, (although cliché) is the best way to lose weight. But, with today's bustling schedules, who has time to exercise and plan out healthy meals? Another reason that dieting seems so awful is because it is a slow process. There are quick solutions out there that can be very tempting. The only problem with these quick weight loss fads is that they do not last. The safest and most effective way to lose weight is to be healthy and lose it slowly.
One way that you can avoid trying the quick and unhealthy weight loss fads is by "playing a trick" on your mind. Think of eating healthy as eating more, not less. Adding in extra fruits and vegetables as snacks or part of your meals is a great way to stay full and healthy and not feel like you are starving yourself. If you are like most people, and you do not have the time for exercise, try walking. Whenever you have a few spare minutes, take a walk, even if you are at work. You cannot have healthy weight loss without water! If you feel yourself getting hungry and you wish to "hold off" until dinner, drink a bottle or an eight ounce glass of water. You will be amazed at how it can fill you up! Water is also a good substitute for sugary drinks like soda, tea or coffee. The more calories you can cut out of your diet, the better. Drinks can be easier to cut than food.
Some people say that they eat because they are bored. If you are one of these people, you must involve yourself in something that has nothing to do with food and also gets you away from the TV. TV and excessive eating seem to go hand in hand. If you do not work, take up a hobby or craft, like scrap-booking, sewing, painting, drawing or making hair bows. Volunteer work anywhere in your area can also be time consuming and get you off the couch and out of the pantry!
When you decide to start dieting, you have to remember one very important word: patience. Slow weight loss can get you down so do not get discouraged when it takes a little longer to start seeing results. Think of it as not only losing weight, but creating a healthier lifestyle for yourself and possibly others around you. Remember, the best way to lose weight really is the old fashioned way!
