How to do commercial printing is pretty technical and must be handled only by your commercial printer. Listed below are the to do’s before the actual commercial printing process happens.
1) Gather various price quotations from several printers and choose.
It is important to get various price quotes from different printers, you do not want to lose a lot of dollars because you chose the wrong printer. Finding the right printer is an investment in itself, make sure you have a healthy relationship with the one you will be working with so you can always get back to them if you need additional prints.
2) Print Requirements Clarification.
Have you identified all your needs and can easily inform your printers of what you envision your prints to be? If you can’t clarify, you just might not get the right price quote or you just might not get the actual print you had in mind. Clarify and point out examples if you must. Include colors, text and images you are to include in the prints to give the printer a general idea on how huge or long your prints must be.

Start writing your text so you can easily check how long your pages or your design needs to be. If you are only printing a one paged handout then you obviously have limited space and cannot write a novel to explain everything.

Fonts
Fonts should be easy to read, if people have difficulty reading the text then you have picked out the wrong fonts. Fonts should be simple and easily read even from a certain distance. Font size should also be considered making sure the fonts are not too tiny to make people squint just to read the text.
Colors
Colors make a design fancy or lousy. When picking out the colors consider your budget (because the number of colors affect your price) and the color preference of your target market.
Pictures
Pictures are something that catches the attention of people. Place a boring picture and you get the same views people have of you. Pick the right pictures or get a good professional photographer to snap a few shots for you.
5) File finalization.
File types are one important factor that designer or clients must follow based on the requirements of the printers. they normally tell you this either in writing (like a checklist for designing) or verbal by simply explaining the process. Make sure you listen attentively and note down the important ones. What information you need to know is the file type, design program, colors and resolution.
6) Design Check.
Have you checked your design already? Remember to check up on the file requirements, picture placements, color matches, and text errors. Once you give your file to the printers and they do not see any issues with the file type they will have it printed already. Checking for misspellings, typo or grammatical errors is not part of the printers job info so if you want them to check that will be an additional fee to your print job.
Do not just dream about the prints, make sure the details on your ideas are realized or at least heard of by the commercial printer. Commercial printing requires people to be different and to think outside of the box to be noticed. Be different.
