Wise Treatments For Common Cold In Baby

New born babies are much more vulnerable for their undeveloped immune systems. Thus it’s quite common for babies to get a cold. Usually babies will have 8 to 10 colds in their first year after birth. When your baby begins to sneezes and sniffles, coughs and fever, take him to the doctor. A cold lasts longer than one weak can be serious. Well, as parents you should seek ways to lower the chances of getting a cold for your baby.
You must want all the comfort for your child and cold can give the opposite and can pose many problems. Nasal congestion and a runny nose are the primary signs of common cold in babies. A cold simply has to run its course, which usually takes about a week. Of course, it's always your call when to see your pediatrician. Treatment for the common cold in babies involves taking steps to ease their symptoms, such as providing plenty of fluids and keeping the air moist.
First, take your baby out to breathe more fresh air. Pay attention to the weather, go out when the weather is fine, and avoid extremely low temperatures or big wind. Just remember don’t take your baby to the crowded place ...
... and don’t stay too long. When at home, keep the indoor humidity at 60%. Open the window to let fresh air come in each day or each 2 days when at low temperatures.
Wash your hands regularly. Keep the baby's toys, pillows, and bed clean. Notice your child's behavior. If your child suddenly turns moody and feels weak, check your child's temperature immediately. If there is slight fever, it will get subsided as soon as you will keep your baby warm and comfortable. Avoid second-hand smoke, which can increase susceptibility to illness, aggravate cold symptoms, and damage lungs.
Keep your baby from any people who may be sick. Keep your baby's hands out of her mouth, nose, and eyes (a challenge with a baby or toddler, we know). Liquids are important to avoid dehydration. Encourage your baby to take in his or her normal amount of fluids. Chicken soup, which has been using as a cold remedy since the 12th Century, really does offer medical benefits; it actually functions as an anti-inflammatory.
If not being treated seriously, common cold can turn dangerous and cause serious health problem to your infant. So if the symptoms continue or the fever increases, you must consult a doctor immediately. If the doctor gives a prescription, make sure the medication is safe for your baby’s age and do give the right dosage.
