When first thinking about this it would seem a strange thing to do. There are not that many roads where you can put your foot to the floor and hear the pulsating roar of the engine from the rear of the car. These cars need to be driven and that is what they are for. They are a car for the purist who enjoys his motoring. Well, at least the two seat sports versions. There is now of course the 4-wheel drive model that can cover the rough terrain of Scotland with ease, but at the same time putting a large dent in your sporran. Running these beasts is not a cheap option.

Popular in Scotland

So why are they popular in Scotland. The weather is not entirely conducive to a convertible. The coupes have no room for back seat passengers and the luggage space is limited, but still they are desirable. Yes, there is a type of cult following, but the real pull is the performance. On the twisting lanes of the terrain of Scotland these will hold the road as you throw it through a corner and out again. The car will hug the road as you accelerate and the feel of sheer power is the indication as to why these cars are so well loved. ...
... From the current models through to the vintage cars the performance has never been questioned. They hold their value and when they become vintage are very sought after.

The growing 4x4 market has meant that every manufacturer has had to make an entry into this market as the demand for this sector is taking from the saloon and coupe sector. In Scotland a 4x4 is not just a vehicle that one must be seen to own, but a vehicle with a purpose. The weather here can be most inclement and the snowfall heavy. To own a four-wheel drive, whatever the running costs, will make your life easier in the long drawn out winters and will ensure that you are never stranded in your house.
