Know More About Cerebral Palsy Disorder
Children are very easily affected by various kinds of disorders. They have a tender body and brain, which has to be taken care of during pregnancy and even after birth up to a particular age. Various kinds of treatment for such cases are definitely available, as the medical science had developed drastically over the time.
Cerebral palsy is one such disorder that occurs in children, is a commonly used term, encompassing a group of non-progressive, non-contagious motor conditions that cause physical disability in human development especially in children, chiefly in the various areas of the body leading to poor movement of the body parts. This particular disorder is caused when the motor control centers of the developing brain is damaged and this can happen during pregnancy, during birth of the child or after the birth of the child up to three years of age. This disorder leads to poor movement in certain body parts and incorrect posture limit activities, which give rise to sight-based perceptual problems and communication ability. Sometimes cerebral palsy may even lead to epilepsy.
Cerebral palsy is categorized into ...
... four different forms of disorders known as; Diplegia- affects the legs and reduces the proper functioning of the legs leading to immobility. Hemiplegia- this is the disorder in which single side of the body is affected and cannot be moved at all. Quadriplegia- this is a kind of disorder in which all four limbs are affected which makes the individual immobile and dependant. Athetoid Dyskinetia- is the disorder in which involuntary and uncontrollable muscle tone fluctuations occur. The term spastic is used within the realms of spasticity, a particular medical condition that explains the highest degree of tightening of muscles. Muscles work one after the other, i.e. when one group of muscles contracts, the other group relaxes which allows free movement and when there is tension between brain-to-nerve-to-muscle interactions, the normal movements of the muscle tension is altered. Apparently, when muscles are affected by spastic cerebral palsy deficiency, they become active together which leads to effectively blocking of coordinated movement, allowing the muscles of the patient suffering from this disorder to be constantly tensed.
Cerebral palsy disorder can cause disruptions in the normal growth of a child, affecting the child’s muscles and the joints of the hands and legs, which would result in abnormal movements of the muscles. This leads to muscle and joint deformities and compasses muscle stretching. And due to these limitations that are caused, anxiety develops and extended effort to stretch the muscles increases the debilitating effects of spastic cerebral palsy, which can also lead to overall fatigue. Various kinds of treatments are available, and one new treatment protocol involves injecting Botox into the patient’s muscles, because, Botox weakens that particular group of muscles which leads to reducing spasticity.
