How To Make Flyers
Are you organizing an event, like a bake sale, a flea market, or a simple show for kids? Are you wondering how to advertise it so that people in the community will know what you are brewing? Then flyer printing might be the answer to your promotional need. Flyers are affordable and can be easily produced so you can easily endeavor to do it yourself. Here are some tips that you can look into on how to make flyers.
1. Decide on the size of your flyer. Do you think your message can fit in a ¼ bond paper size? If not, you may try 1/3 or ½. But a whole bond paper size is too big for a flyer. It will just waste paper. Try to conserve paper without sacrificing the quality of the flyer and without compromising the information contained therein.
2. Write your content. Make a list of the things that you want to include in your flyer, such as name or title of event, date, location, benefits, offerings, contact person or details, etc. Make sure you do not forget any important details or your flyer would be useless.
3. Do the layout. If you don’t have knowledge using those graphics design software, you can still ...
... do the layout by using the most common program—Microsoft Word. You will just have to adjust the size of the paper and the column guides. For example, you would like to produce a flyer that is the size of 1/3 of a long bond paper. Set the paper to legal size, landscape orientation, and then set the column guides to 3. Make the design in one panel and just copy the exact contents onto the second and third panels.
4. Print the master. Read through your flyer to make sure that it is free from errors. You may want to initially print a draft so that you can proofread it from a printed copy. If everything satisfies you, then you can proceed with printing a master copy. Or make it two, for your file.
5. Get it risographed. Bring the master copy to a risograph center. You may specify how many reams you need. The number of reams will be dependent on how many pieces you estimate you would need. For example, you need 3,000 copies of flyers. One ream is 500 sheets. Since your layout is 3 flyers to each sheet, one ream would make 1,500 copies. So if you need 3,000, just order two reams. You may also ask the printer to cut your flyers into three outs. Usually, this service is given for free. But even if you have to pay for it, it is still better than having to cut everything yourself. Additionally, they have those heavy duty paper cutters to ensure that your flyers end up with straight edges.
Flyers are a cheap and affordable way to getting your message across, whether it is an event or just a sale in your local store. People read flyers because they want to know what is going on but they do not have the responsibility of keeping them. They can easily throw them away after they got the information from the flyer and have decided if they need it or not. If this is your first-time to get into flyer printing, don’t panic. Just follow the tips above and your will be fine.
