Being new to poker online is often an interesting and positive experience. But just as often can the first experience turn out bad as well. Do not let you trick by bonuses and races

There are mainly two reasons why these offers are not relevant to new online poker players. First of all the bonuses are never just paid out. No they are in 99% of the times based on some bonus point’s earnings model. For some bonuses you get paid every time you have played a real money game no matter if it equals a very small part of the entire bonus down to small amounts of cents. Others have systems where they pay out in portions so you get for example 10 dollars every time you have made a certain number of bonus points. ... out the total number of bonus points required to play. This would as such not be a problem if it wasn’t because of the second big issue with bonuses: They are time limited! These two things together means that to complete a bonus you would have to play at minimum medium stakes and you should play a lot – a lot is more than 2 hours per day and over 4 tables on average on minimum NL 100. If you want to win races you need to play minimum NL 200 – and over 6-8 tables at a time – and minimum 8 to 10 hours a day – YES – that is sick and certainly not something for a beginner. Even pros have difficult handling this.

It is extremely important that you start learning about the differences between the free poker tournaments. Some of them have real money prizes others will let you qualify to bigger tournaments with bigger money prizes or even live tournaments.

Myth: Bigger is Better

A lot of poker rooms pride themselves with some few very big tournaments with huge cash prizes. And yes it would be great to win those, but often there are that many players in them that the chance of winning them is way worse than in the national lottery.
