The term web 2.0 was coined in a conference in 2004 to describe the ongoing evolution of the Internet. Web 2.0 can be divided into two components: user-generated content and business enhanced cloud computing. Therefore, Web 2.0 is an umbrella term that describes web applications that facilitate information sharing and user-centered design. It is commonly referred to as the “second version of the Internet.”

Web 2.0 applications allow netizens to collaborate and interact with others in a virtual community. Web 2.0 applications encompass social networking sites, blogs, wikis, hosted services, and multimedia sharing sites. Users can provide data content on a Web 2.0 site and exercise a degree of control over that data. Such sites function on an “architecture of participation” as they encourage users to enrich the value of the content on the site as they use it.

They began to perform search engine optimization or SEO web marketing and subsequently developed online marketing strategies in the early 2000s.

By implementing SEO strategies, marketers can promote their client’s websites, increase consumer knowledge of their client’s products and services, and boost their client’s profits.
