Back in the days, a woman's place in the automotive industry was limited behind the desk, doing the not-so-complicated tasks of typing letters, answering phones, and serving coffee. However, times have greatly changed. Today, no longer are women restricted to non-skilled automotive jobs like doing the paperwork or ordering supplies. Take a look at any major automaker's window and you will find females working not only as executives, but also as designers, mechanics, engineers and technicians. In fact, the demand for women in the automotive industry has been rising in recent years.

Auto manufacturers, independent repair shops, car dealerships, and auto service providers are opening more and more automotive jobs for women for a variety of reasons. The demand is not primarily because there is a shortage in qualified technical individuals, but it has been found that women are particularly effective than men when it comes to service consultation. In addition to this, more women are now up to the challenge of getting involved in the performance and technical side of vehicles, and they are willing to learn the basics of automotive ...

If you are a woman, and you would like to have a career in the automotive industry, there is actually an incredible number of automotive jobs to choose from. In fact, there are many positions available only to females in each and every automotive department and below are some examples.

Administrative and clerical. Any automotive company needs people who like to speak to people. The ability to do multiple tasks in a busy environment has long been credited to women, and jobs like these are great stepping stones to work on a higher position, especially in the dealership sector. Some of the most notable jobs here include receptionists, administrative assistant, secretary, or cashier.

Sales and finance. Sales are often regarded as the lifeblood of an automotive business, so the ability to form a bond with a customer and work with their needs is very important to reap great rewards. Equally important is to continue the relationship even after the sale. The abilities to listen and empathize with clients are skills that many women have advantage in.

Service and parts and collision repair. In these automotive sectors, technical knowledge of vehicles and how they function is important. Back in the days, automotive jobs like these are reserve for men, but with the automotive and education programs being opened up for women today, females can now take on the position of technicians, mechanics, estimators, painters and the like.

With the abundant and lucrative opportunities that the automotive industry are offering to women, these are indeed good times for females to take on the roles that were once given to men. Although
a work in the automotive industry may not come to mind as a first career choice for some, many women are now stepping up to experience automotive careers.
