Not all the toys are beneficial for children. A professor in E.N.T department in a hospital once pointed out that some toys would damage the hearing of babies if they make loud sound. In addition, the damage of hearing is nonreversible, which we parents should pay much attention on.

Once there was an institution that conducted a survey on the children toys. In this survey, the experimenters tested the decibels of different kinds of toys. It was found that the decibels of some manned electric toys could reach as high as 74 to 97. The noise of motor car toys and machine cannon toys could reach more than 80 decibels. Even some large music guns could reach a high decibel of being more than 110 decibel.

Babies and children are more sensitive to the sounds than adults. Therefore, we should pay more attention on the noisy problem of some toys.

Many parents like to play with children with some compressed air toys, which can squeak loudly sometimes. However, the compressed air toys can reach a high decibel of 78 to 108, which may scare the babies and children and damage their hearing. Else, some toys such as submachine ...
... guns, cannons and tanks may make a noisy as high as 80 decibel within ten centimeters distance. If the children and babies spend a long time with these toys, their hearing would be damaged for sure.

Scientific research tells us that there are 15 thousand to 20 thousand weak but accurate sensing receptors in the ear. One those sensing receptors are damaged, voice cannot be transferred to the brain. In addition, this damage is nonreversible. One month after the baby's birth, they would own perfect hearing. Because the cells of children's eardrum, middle ear and inner ear are very delicate and sensitive to the voice. If the decibel exceeds 70 decibel, children's hearing would be damaged. If the children stay in a environment with noise of more than 80 decibel, they would suffer from headache, dizzy, tinnitus, emotional tension and memory loss.

Therefore, when we pick and choose toys for children, we also should consider the factor of sounds besides the toys' durability, safety and functions.

Last, when your children's hearing is damaged, the best choice is to seek help from the doctors in hospital.
