Commercial Coffee Machine
If you want to be able to make espresso that tastes just like what you get from the coffee shop, you need a commercial coffee machine. As all espresso and coffee lovers know, there are lots of different ways to make even the simplest coffee drinks. Coffee can be made on the stovetop, in a drip coffee maker, in a French press, or even in an espresso machine, while espresso shots can be made through a wide range of mechanisms and settings.
Why purchase a commercial coffee machine ?
If you have a basic espresso maker at home, you’ve probably noticed that the drinks you make taste quite a bit different from the ones made at the coffee shop, even though they’re all made with the same basic ingredients. This is simply due to the fact that different machines have different ways of operating, which means that the water is exposed to the ground coffee at different temperatures and for different lengths of time. This has a huge effect on the results.
When we think about the commercial coffee machines commonly used in coffee shops and especially in chains such as Starbucks, ...
... it’s obvious that these machines are likely going to have an emphasis on speed. After all, these businesses want to keep their lines of customers moving, and a traditional, time-intensive espresso machine simply won’t work for this process.
Plus, now that chains like Starbucks have turned so many of us on to espresso-based drinks, there are many people who simply don’t enjoy the taste of traditional, non-commercial espresso. If this applies to you, don’t feel ashamed. There’s nothing wrong with commercial espresso; it’s just made differently.
How commercial coffee machines work
The speed issue is the reason why a few espresso machine companies have come up with models that are specifically designed to make espresso and coffee at faster rates than that is normal. For espresso, this typically means upping the temperature of the water and increasing the pressure with which the water is pushed through the ground espresso. This means that the machine has higher power requirements and usually takes up more counter space.
So, needless to say, if you want to purchase a commercial coffee machine, you’re going to need to have a lot of extra room on your countertop. It’s not that commercial coffee machines are unmanageable behemoths—in fact, they’re usually just about 50% bigger than a regular-sized home espresso machine—but they’re not the best option for kitchens that don’t have a lot of extra room.
Plus, there are a few espresso machine makers that have figured out that some people simply want espresso machines that operate quickly and make coffee and espresso that tastes like what’s sold in the major coffee shop chains. Seeing this demand, they’ve begun to produce machines that are fast and produce espresso that has that special flavor, but which don’t take up quite as much room on the countertop. If you’re interested in a commercial coffee machine that has these qualities, there are quite a few available.
