Commercial printing company’s can assist you with the printing but the initial part of process which is the creation of the design, relies heavily on you. Follow these simple steps and start the process of commercial printing.

1) Ready your Budget
It always good to be ready, so have a general fund on hand especially if you want your prints to start being worked on. Check with other printers if the one you have chosen gave you a good rate that is both reasonable and competitive. Some printers require a deposit to start printing so make sure you are ready.

2) Find a great printer
Look for a printer that can easily understand all your needs and can assist you in any part of the process, since it is your first time you will most probably be asking a lot of questions along the way.

3) Be clear with your print needs
The clearer it is the better for you and your printer, make sure you clarify all your needs so that the package that will be given to you has everything you need. The more prints you put together at the same ...
... time the more likely you will get a discount.

4) Start drafting your Text
It can either be short or long, depends on what your printing just have it ready for your design. This can easily help you estimate the number of pages you require for printing so draft your text before you start meeting up with your printer.

5) Things you need to choose wisely because they affect people’s perception of your company so be careful in picking out each of them.

• Photographs

• Fonts

• Colors

6) Things you need to remember with -

• File type
How you save your design files are important especially if your chosen printers have very limited allowed file types. Make sure you know what they prefer (almost always told by your printer before you make your design or given as a form of a checklist). The most common files that are allowed are PDF and JPG files, so you might want to stay within that zone.

• Crop marks
Designs whether it be your picture or text should stay in the caution line (line 1/8 inch from the trim line) and left there. It should not be anywhere close to your trim line (the area where the prints will be cut). Anything that crosses that area, you might want to say good bye to.

• Fonts
No matter how unique or how common you think your font is, you need to imbed the font file to your art. It is most likely that your printers will not have the exact font type and you will end up with a font that is different from what you really designed.

• Colors
You can use any color you want, it’s the type of colors your printers will most likely see in your design. All printers use CMYK while most programs tend to save files in the RGB colors, so either you save it in CMYK or you convert it to CMYK.

You can basically start anywhere just make sure you get a really good commercial printing company to help you go through the ordeal. Commercial printing is always a fun task if done right. Make it fun, do it right.
