Designers (Web, graphic) must be familiar with the software Adobe Photoshop- commonly considered as an image manipulation program. In the given below article I am describing my own views on Photoshop software and the use of layers in Photoshop.
Adobe Photoshop is a graphics editing program developed and published by Adobe Systems Incorporated. It is a Vector Based Programmer designed basically only for designing Purposes. Adobe Photoshop has many versions released in which latest version is CS5.
Versions changes and the Photoshop get more better and easier. The tools and features get increased as the version of the software gets increased. The latest versions are updated keeping in mind demand and facilities of customers. The Brushes, Tools gets improved and are being introduced in the latest versions.
Some Extra Ordinary Brushes can be downloaded from internet as the students make their own brushes which are auxiliary and different and then put them on internet so that others can also use them. Adobe Photoshop has been released in two editions:

... and Adobe Photoshop Extended, with the extended edition it is having extra 3D image creation, motion graphics editing, and advanced image analysis features which is proved to be the most deemed feature till now. PSD format is limited to a maximum height and width of 30,000 pixels. .
PSB (Photoshop Big) format, also known as "large document format" within Photoshop, is the extension of PSD format to images up to 300,000 pixels in width or height. Photoshop uses color models RGB, lab, CMYK, grayscale, binary bitmap, and duotone. Photoshop has the ability to read and write raster and vector image formats such as .EPS, .PNG, .GIF and .JPEG.
This was just the brief introduction about the Photoshop below I am giving the use of layer feature which is being used in Photoshop
Layers play an very important role in Photoshop. As if we have to make different designs or we have to put different styles in one file we cannot create it in one layer. We have to make different layers for it.
As we know that Adobe Photoshop is a Layer Based Program me, designing in Photoshop refers to different layers in which different styles, blending styles, patterns can be applied for better and best presentation. Without making different layers in Photoshop you cannot make a good design.
If we have to make different objects and we have to put different blending options in it then we have to make different layers according to the number of objects. If we perform all the styles to different objects in single layer then all the different objects will treat as a single object and after that if we want to change the color and style of any single object then attributes of all the objects will be changed. Thus the use of layers in Adobe Photoshop plays a very important role in the field of Designing.
