Are you a staff writer of your school organ and you wish to cut down on your expenses without neglecting to print magazines? Or are you a member of a club or a charitable institution and you want to feature your club’s activities in a publication but you do not have a lot of budget for magazine printing? Then do not despair. There is a solution to that. Read on.

While full color periodicals like those glossies that you see on the stands look really nice, they are also very expensive to produce. That is fine to do for these monthly publications to keep producing quality magazines because they have subscribers and advertisers that pay for every single glossy and colored page of the magazine. But if you just have information and no financiers to back you up, having a full-color magazine is just plain unaffordable. Here are some simple ways to bring down the cost of your magazine printing. It is only the outer look that will be sacrificed but in the end, your message will be there.

1. You can maintain the full color printing of your cover but for the inside pages, keep them in black and white printing. That means ...
... you only use one color for the inside pages and that is black. The white spaces are just that of the white paper used. After all, even if you have colored pages for the inside, the text is still usually in black because of it is the color that is easiest to read. So you might as well have black for the inside pages. But if you have photos, they will come out in gray scale. That is a heads up.

2. Do you need to have your magazines done by a commercial printer? If you are going to produce only a few copies, you can actually just do it yourself. Going to the printing press for only a 100 copies is just impractical. If you want, you can print the front cover on good quality paper using your inkjet printer. Then just have the inside pages photocopied. You can then collate the pages yourself and staple them in the middle. You will only have to expend effort and spend for paper, and photocopying. Your magazine will come out really cheap.

3. If you really need to go to a commercial printer, like for those who need large quantities, go to several different companies and ask for a quotation. Then compare prices and their quality of printing. After you have narrowed down your choices to two printers, negotiate the prices with them. Sometimes in the negotiation, you can still bring the prices down, especially if you tell them the best rates of the other printer. Even if you only get a 5% discount from the original quote, still that is savings for your organization.

This is really perfect for school publications, club, and charitable institutions. You need to let people know about your activities and not everyone has a computer and internet connection for them to read your updates online. You can really resort to low-cost magazine printing to get your message across. After all, these magazines are given out for free so they will not complain if it is not entirely made of glossy material and is not in full color.
