It is an obvious choice for people to choose an area where there is a high and continuing stream of prospective tenants. Commonly, places outside city centers, schools and universities are areas where there is good market for rental property. However, always bear in mind that these areas will only appeal to certain types of people so you must also be willing to rent your property to other groups as well or suffer the risk of vacancies.

There are some areas wherein the demand exceeds the supply which means you may have to accept lower than expected rent and excessive bargaining from prospect tenants. You might be also tempted to opt for an area which is currently populated but be wary: once an area is regarded as a hotspot that area usually has the highest prices and the demand for rental property might suddenly decline.
