The Sanmar Group has played a pivotal role in supporting the cause of education for several decades. The Group had been instrumental in running / setting up schools of repute in both Chennai and Mettur. Sanmar understands the importance education plays in improving the lives of people and hence the significant contributions in this area.

The Sanmar Group started three schools in Mettur. There are now over 2500 children currently enrolled in these schools. The schools encompass classes from primary to higher secondary. Schools such as the Vaideeswara Vidya Mandir in Mettur have been consistently rated high for their quality of education and are a preferred choice for parents. This is credible because the school does not charge high fees and has stood up to competition from various other private schools.

In Chennai, The Sanmar Group plays an active role in running two schools, the Sankara School in Adyar and another in Thiruvanmiyur. The schools have been consistently winning awards for their academic excellence. The schools recently won a prestigious award - the Best International School Award ...
... from British Council. Not only do the schools emphasize on quality education, they also encourage students to participate in various activities that help in the overall development of children.

At Mettur, Chemplast Sanmar runs ‘Evening Study Centres’ in Kozhipannai, Mottur and Veeranur with the intention of educating rural students, to enable them to be on par with the urban youth. Chemplast Sanmar has also provided computer(s) for a computer training academy at Vaduku Vanjore near Karaikal.

To help girls with vocational training and to assist them in their path towards financial independence, Chemplast Sanmar has started tailoring training classes in various parts of Mettur. These centres run courses of six months duration that help teach tailoring through practical classes. By the end of the course, the trained girls become self-sufficient and are able to support their families.
Apart from these schools, the Group helps special children through The Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children. This initiative is now functioning in a self-sustained manner. For children with various types of developmental challenges, the Centre provides early intervention and focused training. The programmes are primarily intended to help special children move into mainstream schools. The Centre has been serving the cause of exceptional children for over two decades and along its journey has also guided, counseled and trained parents in the betterment of over 3500 children
