The Depth Of Hawaiian History Of Dance
Dance is one of the biggest aspects of Hawaiian culture since their beginning, which may even date back to the times when they had not even arrived here. The Hula Dance has been handed down for generations which have delivered the ancient messages of the ancestors who have watched over the people of this island for thousands of years. Its native culture has now changed a lot with modern times, and there are many islands that have claimed to have originated this beautiful art. Dance is a form of body language which conveys the thoughts, feelings and the delicate emotions of a lady that she feels for the people she loves. This ancient dance has legendary origins from the goddess “Laka” who is considered the goddess of Hula. The story goes that she created this dance to appease the goddess of the volcano “Pele”. There is a special dance which depicts the story of the origins of Hula which is done traditionally at many festivals. “Olapa” (agile ones) are a separate group who represent the younger generation who can do dance which require a lot of energy to perform. Ho'o-paa (Steadfast ones) are ones who represent the older generation who perform singing as well as playing instruments at the same time.
