The trends have changed and the Punjabi brides love to wear designer lehengas in auspicious colours like red or pink and matching jewellery. The bridal suit or lehenga is studded with stones and embellished with heavy embroidery work. The embroidery consists of stone, zardozi or phulkari work (a traditional form of embroidery work, very famous in Punjab)
A heavy chunni or dupatta is kept over the bride’s head, and she is decorated with heavy jewelry, which might be gold, diamond, or imitation jewellery. Earrings, necklace, anklets, mangtikka, and kaliren are the main components of a Punjabi bridal jewellery kit. Prior to the wedding, the bride is gifted a set of bangles, also known as chooda, by her maternal uncle which she wears on her wedding day. The set of chooda is made of red and white bangles, which are made up of plastic and ivory, and is in red and white color, studded with beautiful stones, which is to be worn by the Punjabi bride for at least one year.
Beautiful designs of henna are applied on the hands and feet of the bride, which are considered as auspicious and make the bride look very gorgeous. The henna designs really complement the bridal attire and jewellery. Professional make-up artists perform make up of the bride to enhance her beauty and give her the best look.
