Japan had a long history of high magnitude earth quakes and Tsunamis. One reason of its being high risk area is because of its location geographically and geologically. Japan is located at a very sensitive area geologically between two massive plates which is the basic reason for its high frequency of earth quakes.

Recently Japan had been hit again by a very high magnitude of earth quake which resulted in Tsunami and massive destruction of civil properties and precious lives. Tsunami is caused by high magnitude earth quakes that have its epicenter in the centre of ocean rather than on earth. The high energy caused by the relaxation or stretching of plates caused the ocean to move at rapid speed towards the earth which produce wave which can be up to 30 to 50m high bringing massive damage to nearby areas.

The recent earth quake and Tsunami in Japan had already claimed over 3600 precious lives and it is said that 10,000 may well have been died.
