What Takes Place During The Hair Restoration Procedure?
If you are thinking about having hair restoration done, I'm sure that you want to get the best look possible out of the procedure. In order to do so, you're going to need to make some difficult decisions as to who you are going to use to have the hair restoration procedure done and what type of procedure you are looking for in the first place. Understanding the choices that you have is going to benefit you greatly, and it will also help you to see through some of the crafty advertising that may be used by many doctors.
If I can give you one piece of advice when it comes to hair restoration, it would be to only choose procedures that take advantage of follicular unit transplantation. The reason why this is important, is because the hair does not grow in single strands on your head. Rather, it is naturally present in groups of anywhere from 1 to 4 hairs, occurring randomly throughout the scalp. Some of the older methods of hair restoration will split the follicular groups and punch the hair into your balding area as single strands. Follicular unit transplantation, however, is preferable to this because it uses the follicular ...
... groups that are extracted from the donor area of your head. How is this done?
During follicular unit extraction (FUE), a strip of hair is going to be removed from the donor area of your head. The donor area is an area in the back of your head which is impervious to hair loss. Small incisions are going to be made and a strip is going to be removed at a depth that would just include the living follicles. What is important to understand about this procedure is that you would want to choose a Hair restoration doctor that used a seamless closure technique. This will reduce the scarring in the area and will make it difficult to detect that any procedure was done.
Under magnification, follicular units are going to be removed from the donor strip and transplanted into your head where the balding has been experienced. This will be done in a way that will allow the living follicular units to receive the blood necessary to nourish them and so that they can continue growing. When done properly, follicular unit transplantation gives you a natural look and dense packing of the hair, perhaps resulting in only one hair restoration procedure needing to be done.
After this type of hair restoration is done, you can expect almost all of the hair to live and continue growing. Although it is possible that it will fall out shortly after the procedure takes place, it will begin to grow again on a natural schedule and this is hair that will be yours for the rest of your life. It can be cut, styled, washed and treated just like your natural hair because that is exactly what it is, your natural hair.
