With the application of new data retention laws, the pressure on data managers for the assurance of security and reliability of data over longer time periods is increasing. The data mangers are seeking new durable, high speed and efficient media storage technologies that can help to mitigate the risk of data loss, and also assure compliance with the strict industry regulations.

The data storage products of HP are reliable and trusted due to their superior compatibility and longer archival life. HP has solved this issue with its high-speed LTO3 tape solution, which provides its customers long term reliability at an affordable cost. Focusing on the needs of the customers, the HP LTO3 tape devices have been carefully designed and built tough to meet the industry standards and expectations of the IT managers.

The storage-intensive data centers can count on HP LTO ultrium-3 technology. The HP LTO3 ultrium cartridge offers a physical capacity of 800 GB in compressed mode, and 400 GB in native mode, thus resulting in higher storage performance at a lower cost. In addition, the enterprises can store large amount of data ...
... onto lesser number of tapes.

HP LTO3 backup tapes and drives are the most economical tape medium for storage-intensive businesses, video applications, supply chain management, long term storage demands, SMBs and network servers. HP ultrium-920 represents the third generation LTO3 half-height drive that provides a reliable solution to the growing backup demands of business enterprises.

The first 3 generations of LTO tapes can be used with ultrium-920 tape drives. LTO-1 is read-accessible and the next generations LTO-2 and LTO3 media tapes are write-read compatible with HP ultrium-920 drive. Multiple drive models as the external drive, rack mount 1U drive and internal drive are included in the HP ultrium LTO3 drive family. SAS 3GB/s and SCSI ultra 320 interfaces are included in these HP LTO3 drive models.

With its ability to carry out read/record operation on LTO2 tape cartridges, the HP LTO-3 drive assures robust investment protection. Furthermore, the first generation LTO1 tape cartridges are read-compatible. Unique data rate matching mechanism is engineered by HP, which alters the tape speed ranging from 20 to 60 MB/s (native) to match is with host’s data throughput rate. More space is saved and easy integration is made possible with the help of half height form factor of HP ultrium-920 tape drive.

The data transfer rate of ultrium-920 drive doubles and reaches up to 120 MB/sec in its compressed mode. Introduction of diagnostic software and special data management tools has helped to make troubleshooting easier and simple. So you can be assured of improved storage performance and higher reliability.
