Most of us have extreme reactions to the word "sale". When its low ticket items like clothes, we react with unadulterated joy. But when it comes to big ticket items like a car, we cringe. So let us look at something like bedroom furniture for sale - bang in the middle of the continuum. Whether you are a buyer or a seller at such a sale, it pays to start at the beginning. Start with what the buyer needs and what the seller has to offer and for how much, who will move from their position of choice and for what consideration.

As with all things pertaining to a house, we look at location. Is the bedroom a part of a rustic cottage or is it part of a stylish London apartment? Are parts of the apartment pre-furnished or do we have a blank canvas to paint on? Will the furniture complement existing wall paints and soft furnishings or is it the other way around? Is the house for use by the owner or, will the property be rented out to tenants? If a rented accommodation, is it a family home or a shared residence? All these factors enable you to choose the right bedroom furniture at bedroom furniture for sale.

At ...
... the sale, the choice comes down to items of furniture to buy, their material, design and color. For example, the owner of a cottage in the countryside may look at rustic furniture to complete the country look. If he has pre-existing furniture in the room, and likes something at the sale, he may ask for it to be antique-stained. A couple with two children may look for two pieces of each item of furniture (maybe in different colors) while a family on the move will look at CKD furniture as opposed to custom built ones. The sales people at such exhibitions would be well advised to understand the needs of the customer and ask pertinent questions without being too in your face. Photographs of existing furniture will make the choice less challenging for both parties. Ready to deliver inventory, speed and cost of delivery and even the option of deliveries over the weekend may make the difference between "The bedroom furniture sale of the century" and bedroom furniture for sale.

Now back to the moot point of a sale - of course the prices! But always remember that the price is what the customer pays and value is what he gets. If a customer's questions are addressed satisfactorily and he is treated with respect, the value perceptions are enhanced and price elasticity increases. A consultant approach to selling on part of the salesman will enable bigger sales in the form of extra pieces of furniture, higher shipping charges and even a few weeks of extra time for delivery. But make sure you under promise and over deliver to delight the customer rather than the other way around. So do your best to ensure that the furniture actually moves into the customers’ homes rather than merely remain bedroom furniture for sale.
